International Crew Certificate
This course allows you to develop the skills and knowledge to be an active crew member onboard a yacht. Consisting of both theory and practical modules. This course focuses on the practical application and will show you how much fun sailing can be when knowing how to operate a boat safely and confidently.
The course duration is 6 days and 6 nights liveaboard on Eureka II with departures on Mondays, Wednesdays.
Course Content
- An free pre-course online training component completed by the student before arriving
- Starts with a crew induction regarding all the safety equipment and how to use it correctly
- Nautical terms, the parts of the vessel and how the rig and sails are operated
- Pre-departure checks/mooring line handling and vessel departure techniques
- Correct anchoring procedures including mooring handling
- Safety drills such as Man Overboard
- Helming, basic sail setting
- Correct tacking and gybing procedures
- Introduction to the nautical chart
- Variation/Deviation and how it applies
- Navigational techniques
- Tidal information
